Evaluating the risk to Bangladeshi coastal infrastructure from tropical cyclones under climate change

چکیده

In many countries, infrastructure plays a crucial role reducing losses during cyclone. Bangladesh is already extremely vulnerable to tropical cyclones, and its frequently damaged by such events. However, climate change expected make the itself, more cyclonic events in future. This paper assesses risk coastal under change, from multi-hazard perspective. A novel assessment matrix proposed, examining likely future country's key elements six prioritised hazards. The hazards stem changes baseline climate, predictions of stronger cyclones as result change. We show that Bangladeshi at risk, suggesting rapid action mitigation measures are needed. Climate will increase vulnerability on own, but higher storm surges related intensified pose greatest with catastrophic impacts all types infrastructure. number recommendations improve made. Due severity risks, alternative protect population should be considered. These may natural defences, efficient evacuation procedures, integration communities design construction process, or relocation populations. sustainable long term place geophysical, geographical, social financial contexts those found Bangladesh.

The Effect of Tropical Cyclones on Climate Change Engagement

Personal experience can influence our attitudes and actions concerning climate change. This paper examines the experience-perception link in relation to tropical cyclones using a distinctly revealed preference approach, mitigating biases of prior research in this area. Tropical Cyclones and Global Climate Change: A Post-IPCC Assessment

The very limited instrumental record makes extensive analyses of the natural variability of global tropical cyclone activities difficult in most of the tropical cyclone basins. However, in the two regions where reasonably reliable records exist (the North Atlantic and the western North Pacific), substantial multidecadal variability (particularly for intense Atlantic hurricanes) is found, but th...

In this scenario, the two planets had frequent close encounters and may even have exchanged orbits before their eccentricities finally ...
